BGH Healthy Living Recipe
500ml of Hot Tea base (tea bags, gynostemma, gogi berries, cinnamon sticks, etc)
2 tablespoon raw cacao powder
1-2 tablespoon of raw organic honey (or stevia to taste)
1 tablespoon coconut oil and/or cacao butter (cacao butter is optional)
Pinch of sea salt
Heat the water until it is at a low boil.
Pour the hot water over your tea leaves or tea bags and steep for 10 minutes.
If you are using Gogi berries and/ or cinnamon sticks, bring the water to low boil, then add in 2 tablespoons of organic Gogi berries and /or 6 Ceylon cinnamon sticks and simmer for about 30 minutes.
Strain tea and place in blender. Blend the tea and the oils first to emulsify the oils. Then add remaining ingredients and blend on high for 30 seconds.
Pour into a mug and sprinkle with a small amount of cacao powder.

Do you know about the insidious non-alcohol factor in fatty liver disease? Insidious because it’s hidden in popular soft drinks and many packaged foods, is not considered a toxin, yet is known by researchers to be very harmful to your health.
What is this ingredient? Fructose, especially high fructose corn syrup which is found in soft drinks, sodas and many bottled juices.
Fructose is lipogenic, which means it turns even non-fat foods into body fat. It makes you fat, which can affect all parts of your body. It also promotes inflammation in the body. Inflammation a major factor in almost every modern disease. It also increases the risk of obesity and fatty liver disease. A vicious circle, isn’t it?
Think about that when you next reach for a soft drink or bottled juice. Choose fresh juices instead, or just plain clean water. Your liver will love you for it.
Since I made meditation a daily part of my life, things just seem to go better for me. My life is more balanced and rewarding. Meditation helps me clear my mind and feel more connected, more in control of my life, and it is wonderfully energizing.
Here’s one very simple meditation I sometimes use to de-stress and revitalize myself. It only takes a few minutes.
Sit down in a quiet place where you won’t be interrupted. Breathe comfortably, slowing down your in- and out-breaths a little each time until you achieve a regular, slow pattern of breathing.
As you continue breathing this way, think of a place where you feel peaceful and happy. Imagine yourself in this place. Relax your body, your face and shoulders. Relax your mouth into a little smile.
With each in breath, imagine you are breathing in peace, and vitality. With each out breath, imagine you are breathing out all stress, all tension. Keep doing this for a while until you feel totally relaxed and peaceful.
Do you believe that your brain function declines over the years? If you do, you are unconsciously affecting how your mind ages. Our attitudes and beliefs about aging have a major influence on how fast we age, and how we age.
A 2002 Yale study of over-50 year olds showed that those with a positive perception of aging lived on average more than seven years longer than those with a negative perception. It also found that being exposed to others’ negative perceptions of aging increases stress levels in older people. Words expressing age stereotypes such as ‘fragile’, ‘feeble’, ‘forgetful’, and treating older people that way can actually result in higher stress, poor memory, poor balance and a shorter life.
Negative perceptions about aging often emerge in the way we talk to and about the elderly, including using words like ‘dear’, ‘dearie’ or ‘sweetie’ in the same tone that we speak to a child, and talking about the person as though they weren’t there. According to researchers at the University of Kansas, this can lead to lower confidence and self-esteem, depression, decreased independence, and withdrawal in older people.
An aging or even a frail body does not necessarily imply mental decline. In fact, cognition often improves with age as we learn to use our brains more efficiently, and become more reflective and less distracted by ego, and research shows that we actually do become wiser.
The ancient Greek dramatist Sophocles wrote his most famous play, Oedipus Coloneus, in extreme old age. Plato was still writing philosophy in his eighties, and in his 94th year Isocrates wrote a treatise on literature that is still studied today. Many of today’s greatest minds are also well into their 70’s and 80’s.
So keep that brain active, and if anyone tells you to act your age, tell them to get lost!
